You were conceived! I knew that instant and I have no doubt that I was correct when the knowledge that I was pregnant hit me that night. |

David Arthur Austin born in Columbus, Indiana. You were my Easter bunny baby born the day before Easter. I cherish that day and the 9 months I carried you in my womb- how you did so many somersaults until you got too big and ran out of room. Your hiccups shaking my whole body and how you kicked my ribs. You were such an easy baby and came into this world without complication and a minimum of pain.

Moved into our own home from Grandma's house. There you began to walk and talk, made neighborhood friends, started school, learned to read, grew so much. Many wonderful memories, but we outgrew that apartment duplex in 1990. |

Started kindergarten. Your first day you rode the bus to school and I met you there to help you settle in and get comfortable in strange surroundings. It broke my heart to leave you. As I walked out you were staring at me with big eyes and I was looking at you all the way out the door wanting you to be brave and do well. |

Such a busy summer. We moved into our house, your little league team came in second place after playing game after game in the hot July sun, and you were ringbearer in Uncle Jim's wedding. |

First real vacation, not just overnight trips. Went to Charlotte, NC to see Uncle Jim and Aunt Kathy and then to Wilmington and to the coast. Your first time to see the ocean. On the way home we spent a night at Gatlinburg, Tennessee and you loved the Wax Museum so much you visited it 3 times. |

Trip with your Aunt Jenny and Cousin Amy to visit Great Aunt Mary and Cousin Bob in Clarenden, Pennsylvania. Took a side trip to Niagara Falls and you were so excited about crossing over to the Canadian side. This mini-vacation became the source of the family joke about pouting.

Dave's son, Kurdt Dakota Austin, born 2/29/00. You were so good to Ra'chell and were brave and comforting when you accompanied her to the operating room for her c-section. I can still see you after surgery in the nursery while they checked Kurdt and cleaned him, smiling at me through the window - so proud. And I was so proud of you. Kurdt - your own Mini-Me. Named for Kurt Cobain, one of your heros.

Miles is born. Your second son. I remember you calling me in September to tell me about Miles and how it was likely you were his father because DNA testing ruled Ben out as father. You only met Miles once, but I have had the great opportunity to get to know him and April and no DNA test needs to be done for this baby with your nose, ears, and mouth. And April's big blue eyes. Smiley Miles, another gift from God to carry on your being.

11:00 am - Your memorial service officiated by Reverend Michael Bean at the North Vernon First Presbyterian Church. People were stacked shoulder to shoulder on the pews, sitting on the alter, standing in the back, sitting on the floors in the aisles. (Kind of like a quiet mosh pit.) Justin, Chris, Kyle, Heath and Josh spoke of you to pay their respects. Tears flowed.
♥♥♥♥You were so loved and will be so missed♥♥♥♥ |
