Memorial website in the memory of your loved one

Dave "Rock Star" Austin at his 25th birthday celebration.

Untitled Poem by David A. Austin

Close your eyes and drift away
Think back to some brighter day
All the bad has been erased
And everything good was properly placed
No need for your sad, wet tears
Only the bad has something to fear
With golden walls you're protected
Come inside, no one is rejected
The light you see is your destiny
Extend your arm and faithfully trust
You've been reborn
Your troubles are dust.

This memorial website is dedicated to the memory of David Arthur Austin. He was born in Columbus, Indiana on Saturday, April 18, 1981 and died on Saturday, October 28, 2006 at the age of 25. He will never be forgotten.

Dave was a son, a father, a nephew and a friend. One of his greatest achievements  was his championing for animal rights and practice of vegetarianism. He challenged others to re-examine their views on the humane treatment of other living beings and won converts to the practice of animal rights.

Dave was a talented poet with three poems on poetry.com. He was an avid Nirvana fan and enjoyed a wide genre of music. As a  partner in making video clips, he was proud when one, "Ultimate Urban Gymnastics,"  was purchased by Break.com.

So many nicknames:
Rockstar                Aluitious                    Kobold
Precious                Boo Boo Cakes         Monkey
Frog                      Davey Crockett         Scarecrow

About Dave and friendship: He was a true blue friend; he was the type of person to give you the shirt off his back "albeit dirty, holey, and about to fall apart." Dave was the most forgiving person ever met and he forgave others for anything and everything. And he made it clear that he  held no ill will toward that person. He was fun and spontaneous and was the guy you could call when feeling blue and he'd  come to visit you to offer comfort.

None of us will really understand why Dave left us at such a young age, but the impact he has had on us will live with us forever.

Afterthought:

These words were said by a Rev Warren Stevens at the funeral of a different young man who took his own life.

"This child died on his own battlefield. He was killed in action fighting a civil war. He fought against adversaries that were as real to him as his casket is real to us. They were powerful adversaries. They took toll of his energies and endurance. They exhausted the last vestiges of his courage and strength. At last these adversaries overwhelmed him. And it appeared that he lost the war. But did he? I see a host of victories that he has won!

For one thing -- he has won our admiration -- because even if he lost the war, we give him credit for his bravery on the battlefield. And we give him credit for the courage and pride and hope that he used as his weapons as long as he could. We shall remember not his death, but his daily victories gained through his kindnesses and thoughtfulness, through his love for family and friends, for animals and books and music, for all things beautiful, lovely and honorable. We shall remember the many days that he was victorious over overwhelming odds. We shall remember not the years we thought he had left, but the intensity with which he lived the years he had!

Only God knows what this child of His suffered in the silent skirmishes that took place in his soul. But our consolation is that God does know and understands!"

His legacy
Dave's web site!
Thanks to Josh E. I have the link to the website that Dave created around 1997. This is pure Dave with writings  and activism about animal rights and human equality. He has his musings and some pictures on here also.

http://www.angelfire.com/wa2/punk4life/

Dave was very outspoken about his personal beliefs and was against eating meat and any type of prejudice. He holds nothing back regarding these viewpoints in his web page and the intention of sharing this site is to demonstrate the type of unique personality Dave had and not to offend others.
Splink
Local band Dave did vocals for in 2002.
To listen to Splink songs or download music, go to

http://www.purevolume.com/splink

There are 3 Splink songs listed on this site.  I saw Dave in concert with Splink once in May 2002 and was amazed at his showmanship while singing lead vocals for the band. He was awesome and the band was popular in our area with a good turnout for this one particular concert.

                    Popped by David A. Austin
Ghosts in time, a lost vessel
             The heart aches once
             and you know they're special
A statue like glaze covered in ice
             Looking out to nowhere
             The perfect love's first disguise
Sleeping without my rose in bed
             You're losing your smile
             As you're losing your head
             Without the gravity we share
             The falling, spinning Earth
Is mine and yours to bear
